We, the people, are taking over health care reform.
The patient must be the most powerful person in the health care system. It's the patients life at stake, and the patients health at risk.

My experience has been that the insurance does not add value to the health care, but actually detracts from it. It is like I am paying people to delay my care and that is crazy. That might save some money on the actual health care part, put I am more than making up for it in the overhead cost of the insurance industry, and it detracts from the utility of the care that I am trying to get. The industry gets away with it by providing a common standard to the _employers_ who are choosing the health care packages for their employees. The employees get an insurance option that has their physician, and sign up for it, and discover in the course of use, that a) the insurance company violates patient privacy, and b) they stand in the doorway when you need care. Then it is time to pick another disappointment at next open season.
This is what I wrote on the well yesterday, with a little clarification.

Between getting permission from insurance, scheduling the session and coordinating my schedule, over a month and a half went by before I am under the magnet, and then time for the results to go to the primary physician. At the follow up appointment, the doctor referred me to a specialist. Again getting permission from insurance became a tedious process, then scheduling the appointment, a scheduling problem and another two months roll by before I am diagnosed and advised on how to take care of my knee.
